Festival Director

Zuhal Kavak’s dedication to theater and the arts began during her early school years, where she cultivated a deep passion for dramatic acting, improvisation, and music. While pursuing her law degree, she joined the Tiyatromuz Theatre Company, gaining extensive experience as both an actor and assistant director. Her enthusiasm for cinema grew through participation in film readings, training workshops, short film projects, and panel discussions as well. For over two decades, she has been an active and dedicated volunteer in cultural and artistic initiatives.

Zuhal also contributed significantly to the Antalya Golden Orange International Film Festival, where she supported the event for three consecutive terms. As the current President of the Turkish-Canadian Society of Vancouver, a registered arts and culture charity in British Columbia, she continues to champion cultural and artistic endeavors. Zuhal has served as a board member of the society since February 2023, fostering community engagement through art, culture, sports, and social initiatives.

Looking ahead to 2024, she is committed to bringing her theater, cinema expertise, and network to the Vancouver Turkish Film Festival, creating meaningful experiences for attendees and furthering the appreciation of Turkish cinema within the community.
